We did it!! We were able to go to Vince and Jodi's wedding in Springfield, Illinois! I wanted to go so bad and so I made it happen. I am so glad we went, because it felt so great to see my cousins, aunt, uncle, Papa, and all of Uncle Phil's side that I haven't seen since I was a little girl. I left feeling all warm and fuzzy and connected, and that's what it's all about, right?
We stayed at the Hilton Springfield. Jodi had a welcome gift waiting when we checked in. It was an Abe Lincoln hat filled with snacks, candy, gum, water, tourist book, fruit. Very cool and thoughtful. The hotel was awesome. It was decorated very modern and our room was perfect. We had a view of the city. We arrived the day before the wedding and went to the rehearsal dinner held at Vince's office. We had huge pizza's and salad and Auntie Mary made grandma's famous bulls eye cookies and rice crispy treats. The next morning, we all enjoyed buffet breakfast together. After that, the three of us walked the two blocks to the Lincoln Museum. It was great. I love museums and wanted to read and look at everything, but Olivia wasn't so patient. They had a playroom called Mrs. Lincoln's Attic that she loved. It had a doll house replica of the house the Lincolns lived in. There was a dress-up corner with costumes to try on. There were wooden toys like they had back in the 1800's and of course, Lincoln Logs!
I'm just going to post pictures, because I have so much to say, I can't stop typing! (I haven't been anywhere in a long time!)
