I know my postings are all out of order, but I had to share our experience in Milwaukee the first night we flew in. We arrived at midnight and we just needed a room to sleep and then drive to Springfield the next day...seems easy, right? Well, it just so happened it was Harley Davidson's 105th anniversary weekend. All of the hogs came home to Milwaukee to celebrate. There were no rooms available anywhere in the city....except the one we were lucky enough to get. The EconoLodge had one smoking room left. We reluctantly took it and were told by many that we were lucky to find it. We called ahead 2 or 3 times to let them know that we were not smokers and had a baby and we really wanted a non-smoking room if one came available. We were told that they had a "special" deodorizer that they could use on our room. We arrived tired and ready to crash at 1am local time. We opened the door and the smell greeted us warmly. The most horrible stale, musty old cigarette smell ever!! Rob starts yelling, "Hurry, open the window!" I run over and open it and there is no screen. There's a dumpster and Harley parking outside (ground level). Olivia was so tired so I laid her down and Rob went to the front desk for the deodorizer. I tried to brush my teeth but the sink was so nasty, it was grossing me out. Rob came back and said the housekeeper would be in the next morning....no deodorizer. We were looking for anything to mask the odor. I didn't bring perfume or body spray. Rob ended up laying his Speedstick on the air conditioner and I sprayed Johnson and Johnson No More Tears Detangler all around. Olivia thought we were nuts! Rob was so grossed out he slept in his clothes (for about 45 min) In the morning we just left, no shower or anything. It was too icky. We didn't even want to open our suitcases to contaminate our wedding clothes. The next morning Rob talked to the front desk and was told that wasn't even a regular room, it was a monthly rental that was just opened because of the Harley thing. Nice. They offered us a 10% discount....wow, generous. Here are some pictures....

I love it! I'm the same way. I hate smoke smell. We had to stay at a place like that a few years ago, and we took pictures too, just so people would believe the nastiness.
