First Ice Skating Lesson

We ate at Chili's after her lesson to celebrate her birthday. They sang to her, of course!

Olivia had her first lesson this week. She is a natural! She followed her teacher onto the ice while I'm behind saying "You have to hold her the whole time. She's never skated..." The teacher just nodded at me and skated onto the ice with Olivia behind her. Rob just stayed calm and said she'd be okay. I watched, ready to run out and rescue her when she fell, but she did great. She fell all over the place but the teacher showed them how to fall the right way. Olivia smiled and laughed the whole time. She never got upset or frustrated. At one point, the teacher must have told her to stand still and wait while she worked with the other boy. Olivia stood there for a bit, it looked like she got bored and tried to move a little. She eventually fell and was sitting on the ice for a bit, then got bored again and started scooting on her hands across the ice. The teacher noticed and came and got her. It was pretty funny! The teacher told us afterwards that she did really well and they were all impressed by her. (I know, I'm a proud mama!)

Great pics. Denver and Chicago are secretly vieing for the Winter Opympics of 2016. Let's see, would there be competitions for 11 year old skating pros?

"Liv Lanssens Takes The Gold" . . . yeah, I can see it.
