Here's a link to the story in the AZ Daily Sun last week. I did this climb last week and had a great time as usual. It's challenging and emotional, but very worth it. I walked with Shea and Elisabeth this year. They were kind enough to buy my ticket so I could join them. Rob had to work, so Arcelia was able to watch Olivia all morning (Thanks!!!) It was 7 miles up Snowbowl Road and the views are amazing as you approach the top. When you arrive at the Lodge, you got Outback Chicken Caesar salad and a roll. Yummy, but not enough. We had to break into the Nutty Bars we got at water stop #5. (Amy, my friends didn't know what a nutty bar was, I had to educate them on junk food!) Kind off odd when you think of it. The first few water stops had orange slices and chunks of banana. Then at about mile 3 or 4 it turned to breakfast bars and granola and trail mix, then it went into Nutty Bars and Little Debbie brownies. I think they just gave up. Maybe they figured by mile 6 at 12,000 feet you needed all the help you could get!
I thought about Annie and her battle with cancer. I lost it a few times, like when a family passed that all had single high heeled shoes tied to their belts that belonged to their mom. Also, when you get to the last mile there are signs all lined up with pictures of people that lost their battle recently. I found myself thanking God that my family is healthy and that I am able to walk up a mountain. Some people aren't so blessed.

Wow! I wish I could have done that with you. My very good friend Karen, with the red hair, is a stage four breast cancer survivor and she just found out she has skin cancer. I hate cancer. Good for you for doing that walk.
That is so awesome...
